I’m not sure if anyone is even here anymore.
I’m back in the land of the living. Baby boy didn’t sleep through the night until well after a year. Even then, it is in our bed. He required one or both of us to lay with him until he fell asleep. Between our parenting style and our bending to him, probably from all we went through, we obliged. We tried “cry it out” but it never felt right for us.
So a couple of months ago we had a fairly rational talk with him that he falls asleep on his own at daycare and he is going to start doing it at home.
Me: Mama is going to go do the dishes. You’re going to stay in the bed and rest. I’ll come check on you.
Him: Me go with you?
Me: No you stay in the bed.
Him: Okayyyy. (No tears, no getting out of the bed)
And just like that, 2.25 years old, he finally fell asleep on his own and slept through the night.
So that means D and I get stuff done. Actually see each other. Get on a more normal, adult sleeping schedule.
So now that I’m human again, I will try to recap some of our experiences and what we’ve learned.
Stay tuned.
