| About 1.5, 2.5, and 3.5 weeks post D&C... getting lighter |
After a miscarriage, doctors will commonly order weekly HCG tests to make sure the levels are falling (interestingly, HCG doesn't drop right away with a miscarriage, not even with a D&C- it can stay in your system several weeks!). Since I haven't had my consult with Dr. K, and the nurse never mentioned it in our conversations, I don't have orders and haven't been getting betas drawn. I don't want to drive 2 hours roundtrip to get stuck with a needle and waste the money if I don't have to. A poor man's way to make sure HCG is falling is to test on a 60 cent test rather than a $100 blood test. Not doctor approved but... :)

I think your way makes much more sense. Hoping the line goes away soon. If you do need one drawn eventually, can you have a non-STAT HCG done closer so you can avoid the drive (plus, your clinic doesn't really understand STAT anyway, right?).
ReplyDeleteGood point about the non STAT. I like that idea (for this type of beta of course). And yes you are correct! :)
